Saturday Photo Shoot

It was raining and cloudy on Saturday.  The soccer game was rained out, Ty had school and we were bored!  So I took the kids and my camera to the trails and started shooting.  Here's a few shots from our morning.

Wanna Hang Out???

Today I got my usual 8:15 am phone call from my friend Velvet. Amazingly enough, we were both free for the day so we decided to hang out and make salsa. I was excited because there is never a dull moment when cooking with her. For example, you can take the easiest recipe for a chocolate cake in the crock pot and for some reason it comes out looking like this...

No problem... Chocolate Cake anyone? Anyway, we began our salsa adventure at Albertsons. We got all the ingredients plus lots of Diet Coke! The salsa making went really well. We decided to quadruple the recipe and Velvet's math isn't much better than mine, so the laughing began. We figured it out and finished our salsa with my kitchen looking like tomatoes had exploded. The salsa tasted good, but Velvet decided it need something else so through my spices she went. Adding this and that and like 8 more cloves of garlic than the recipe called for. I trusted her because she made this the other day and it was wonderful. We finished and amazingly it tasted great! Then it sat until dinner. When we ate it with our tacos, it was the best garlic salsa I have ever tasted! Needless to say, apparently the flavors blend the longer the salsa sits. Moral to the story: When making salsa, it doesn't have to taste exactly right when the project is complete and it's probably a good idea to follow the recipe!

Fall Soccer

It's hard to believe that Fall is here already.
Jaxon started soccer and Ty is the coach.

First Day of School

How fast the summer flies!  We cannot believe that we now are now waking up at 6:00 am! Jaden started 8th grade and school starts at 7:30 am. Quite a change since last year he started at 8:50 am. He's loving the early rise because he gets home before Jessica.

Jess started 5th grade.  It's her last year of elementary school.  She's pretty excited.  She likes her teacher and she has a bunch of  friends in her class.

Jaxon started Kindergarten and is so glad to be attending the "big kid" school.  He is also thrilled that he gets a real backpack, just like Jaden and Jessie.

Yuba Trip 2008

Every year we are lucky enough to make it to Yuba Lake.  It is one of our favorite trips because the water is almost as warm as Lake Powell, and the beaches are sandy!  Great for the kids. However, if any of you have visited this great place, you might be aware of how quick the rain storms hit!  The past two years we have been lucky enough to have good weather but we know that can't last forever.  This year we got hit fast and hard.  This fun storm only lasted about 30 minutes and check out the amount of water!

This is after we dug trenches that were 12 inches deep!

A little maintenance on the trenches after the storm, just in case there
is another one!

This is when we knew we were in trouble, you could
see the storm come across the lake toward us.

Here's Ty smiling for the camera while being nailed by raindrops!

The water was coming down so fast it didn't even absorb into
the sand.

The kids all thought it was totally cool as they watched from the Minnie Winnie.  Overall we had a great time when the weather was good.  We played in the water and did the usual waterskiing and wake boarding.  We can hardly wait for next year!
